Danye Jones Was Lynched

So many of Us are beaten as if We are inanimate sticks, pulled from a tree—soulless and without meaning; murdered as if Our Lives do not matter, LYNCHED before the silence of a white and non-Black audience. I shared about Danye Jones’ LYNCHING, frantically ENRAGED, before a silent, indifferent, annoyed, and busy social media. He was indeed lynched, and it was ruled suicide by one more white, racist medical examiner, securely in the pockets of yet another corrupt, racist, violent, protected police department—Ferguson police department, the same police department that violently took the life of 18-year-old, Michael Brown in 2014.

Brave, outspoken, and focused Black Activists, like Danye Jones’ Mom, Melissa McKinnies, and Danye himself, for that matter, have been lynched for generations. We lay nameless to most and hidden underneath the blooded soil of bricks and mortar. We are lynched with impunity, without even a small taste of justice, haphazardly thrown overboard police boats, left to rest at the bottom of lakes and rivers and oceans. These white supremacist, soulless murderers of Black Lives go on to live full lives, cheering at hometown high school football games and sitting proudly, watching their daughters and sons walk down graduation and wedding aisles. All smiles and joy and friendships and loyalty and love and promise and protection.

Police Chief Jason Armstrong and Mayor Elect Ella Jones, I ask, that You please reopen the [MURDER] case of Danye Jones’ death by hanging. I ask You both, to follow Your hearts and do the right thing for Danye’s Mom, Melissa McKinnies, and Loved Ones. Do the right thing for Black Americans. Do the right thing for the healing and Justice We are currently and have Always fought and died for.
