Something Is Happening

Something is happening. It is existentially imperative that we, collectively, pull the thread that finds itself virally spreading from sea to shining sea. The Supreme Court have ruled against a New York State law that stated the illegality of one concealing and carrying weapons. They, the Supreme Court, has overruled that law, stating the legality to carry a concealed weapon with, almost, impunity. This Supreme Court ruling not only applies to New York State, but is now the law of the land—throughout the “United” States. 

As we all should now know, they have ruled to overturn Roe v. Wade. If you live in a democratic led state—as I do here in California, with Governor Newsom—and a Republican wins the gubernatorial race this November, we can expect that they too, will make abortion, illegal. If, in 2024, a republican is elected as president (I cannot believe we live in a country that would allow a white supremacist, fascist trump the right to even run again, let alone walk free;  including all the rest of them—McConnell, Flynn, Guiliani, Barr, Meadows…too many to name. Mighty white supremacist move of this country, amerikkka.), we can expect that abortion will be made illegal throughout the entire United States. 

On Tuesday, “The U.S. Supreme Court has put a temporary hold on a lower court's order for the creation of a second majority Black congressional district in Louisiana.

The order by the high court, released Tuesday with dissents from the three liberal justices, comes after the lower court found that a newly drawn map of voting districts for Louisiana's six seats in the U.S. House of Representatives would likely violate the Voting Rights Act by diluting the votes of Black voters.” (Hansi Lo Wang, NPR)

Something is happening.

Louisiana has six congressional districts, five are white led; and our mostly fascist, white supremacist Supreme Court (SC) wants it to stay that way—at least until after the midterms (Similarly, Alabama’s unconstitutional gerrymandering map is on hold by the SC too.). 

In 2013, a majority republican Supreme Court, gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Bill (the year that African/Black Americans fought to win the right to vote in this lie of a country) by removing Section IV, which made states have to get congressional permissions to make changes to voter access. This intentional gutting brought about all the barriers that we know so well today: closing polling places in majority Black areas, criminalizing giving out waters and snacks while predominantly Black [and Peoples of color] wait in long lines to cast ballots due to polling place closures, implementing mandatory identification cards; who knows what they’ll come up with next—the sky’s the limit. These limitations make it difficult, for Indigenous, Black, non-republican Latinx, and the very poor, to vote. Again, this is intentional; all a part of a very long game.

We must understand and really keep an open mind. If you are Catholic or Christian,  you may think, well it’s murder to abort one’s fetus. Regardless of what one believes, we should consider that even God affords us free will; and understand that no one of us wants state/government control of our bodies. God/Universe/Jesus/Creator/Great Spirit does not give men, womxn, or the state/government the right to have control over any person’s body or mind. Remember, Black Americans did not own Our bodies until 1863, and even then, even now, not all of us have  ownership of our bodies. God did not give control to sadistic, violent, sexually abusers over my Ancestors’ bodies. This has nothing to do with God—whichever God one believes in (Except for their god, Satan; they all definitely seem to have made a deal with the devil; like, the real devil.) 

Something is happening.

So just think about that. Think. Something is being planned right before our very eyes. While the authoritarians further wields their trident in tandem, the Democrats are reciting poems on Congressional steps and telling us that there’s nothing they can do; we just have to vote. Well they are right, we do have to show up and vote. The fact that the entire GOP is trying to restrict progressives right to vote, says a lot.

But listen, we can turn this all around. We really can. I want to give myself and everyone out there who may be reading this, hope. We can turn this around by coming together. Regardless of what color our skin is or what we believe in or worship, regardless of whether we were born in this country or not, regardless of who we love and choose to marry and have sex with, regardless of any of those things, we must come together. 

First we have to take care of ourselves—mind, body, and spirit. We must put the oxygen masks on ourselves first. And then, we take care of each other; our neighbors, our communities; we must look out for one another, help one another, be compassionate, respectful, empathetic, patient, and kind to one another. 

This authoritarian status quo (This current status quo are the same white supremacist status quo that violently colonized this land and others; and they’ve always been in power.) will use the old playbook (they are basic, uninventive, cultural appropriators of other’s geniuses, and the most basic of humanity) of “divide and conquer.” They want us to be suspicious of one another and hate one another. We have to resist these reactions. It’s a set up. We have to come together. We need to take care of ourselves and come together. We must be brave and courageous; we must tell the truth about our HerHisStory, about ourselves, to ourselves.

If we do these things, we can actually destroy their power.
