The Silence Is Deafening

I've encountered many misogynistic "butch" lesbians over my lifetime. It's unfortunate, however, I would not go so far as to say it is the norm. I was in two situations, in my early 20s that were abusive. It's not something that is talked about, I don't think--within any gender identity--but especially within the LGBT community. I believe that Lesbian, Gay, and Transgender misogyny is a direct result of our society's conditioned and accepted patriarchal hegemony. I also believe that if we expose it and are open about its existence and involve ourselves in a dialogue about our experiences with misogyny and abuse and patriarchal hegemony within the LGBT community...well it's a start; we can begin to combat it.
