My Journey Into The Night
The drops wouldn't let up.
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
Ensconced in sweat
Entangled in sheets
Eyes wide shut,
I couldn't fall asleep.
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
The kitchen sink seemed a million miles away.
I twist to the left, to the right....
Sleep is not my friend.
Kicking the covers off my damp skin,
I give in to the light in the night
To the pain in my head
To scooching to the edge of the bed
And my journey into the night.
I reach the kitchen sink.
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
Silence.
